Charli XCX’s album Crash, released on 18 March 2022, was dedicated to SOPHIE. Crack Magazine reported the dedication the day before release, quoting the liner notes: “This album is dedicated to Sophie”. The story is about Crash—not a newly announced album—and the dedication does not establish that SOPHIE worked on the record.

Crack Magazine’s report on the dedication records the wording and release-eve context.
Why did Charli XCX dedicate Crash to SOPHIE?
Charli described SOPHIE as a major influence on her life and work. In a Zane Lowe interview during the album’s release, she said, as quoted by Crack Magazine, “She changed my life and she changed all of our lives.” Charli also reflected that she wondered what SOPHIE might think or tell her during the album-making process. She imagined the encouragement: “Do your thing, go for it, push yourself.” These are Charli’s reported comments about SOPHIE’s influence, not evidence of a contribution to Crash.

Crack Magazine’s account of Charli’s Zane Lowe interview gives the release-period context for those remarks.
Did SOPHIE work with Charli XCX?
Yes. SOPHIE was Charli’s friend and frequent collaborator. Their earlier work included Charli’s 2016 Vroom Vroom EP and the singles “Girls Night Out” and “No Angel.” The reports documenting the dedication and Charli’s reflections establish a tribute to SOPHIE on Crash, but do not establish that SOPHIE produced, performed on, or otherwise contributed to that album.

How the dedication fits Charli’s earlier tribute
After SOPHIE died in an accident on 30 January 2021, Charli published a tribute. Crack Magazine reproduced it on 3 February 2021. Charli wrote that SOPHIE had taught her about herself and expressed regret that she had not told her more often how special she was. She closed: “I love you and I will never forget you Sophie.”
Crack Magazine’s report on Charli’s 2021 tribute records those words and notes their work on Vroom Vroom.
