Spoilers for all of Season 2. The finale defeats Erzsebet and Drolta, but not without putting Annette’s life at risk. Annette returns from the spiritual realm, then leaves France with Richter and Edouard for Saint-Domingue. Alucard stays in Paris with Maria and Juste. The immediate threat is over; the characters’ separate paths leave several questions open.
How does Season 2 resolve the Sekhmet plot?
Drolta’s plan is to make Erzsebet the vessel for Sekhmet’s power. The endgame reveals that the goddess’s soul is divided: Drolta channels much of its power through Erzsebet, while Annette’s spiritual journey connects her to the missing spiritual component. Sekhmet’s presence through Annette turns against the desecration of her power and confronts Erzsebet. The confrontation weakens Erzsebet, and Drolta takes Erzsebet’s body and the power for herself, becoming the final threat. Recap of the finale

Richter and Alucard fight Drolta while Annette faces the danger of being lost as Sekhmet’s divided soul is reunited. Richter initially wants to save Annette even if that means risking the wider world. Alucard reminds him that Annette would choose for herself. Richter lets go, and Annette fights her way back from the spiritual realm. Richter and Alucard then defeat Drolta, with Olrox also helping in the fight. Season 2 finale recap
Does Annette die?
No. Annette’s spiritual connection to Sekhmet puts her life in danger, but she returns from the spiritual realm. The sequence gives her a struggle and decision of her own: Richter’s confession reaches her, but the scene is not simply a case of love saving her. Alucard helps Richter respect Annette’s agency rather than impose the outcome he wants. Season 2 finale recap

Do Richter and Annette end up together?
The finale sends Richter and Annette away together for Saint-Domingue, alongside Edouard, and their bond is emotionally central to Annette’s return. Netflix’s Season 2 preview described their relationship as continuing to evolve; showrunner Kevin Kolde said, “The relationship between Richter and Annette is at the heart of the show and continues to evolve in Season 2.” Netflix Tudum’s Season 2 preview The ending points toward a shared future, but its decisive emotional turn is Annette’s choice—not a declaration that Richter can decide for her.
Is the ending setting up another season?
The immediate campaign against Erzsebet and Drolta is resolved: Erzsebet dies, Drolta is defeated, and the conflict over Sekhmet reaches its conclusion. The characters’ split destinations, along with the unresolved threads around Maria, Olrox and Mizrak, and Tera, leave room for further stories. Those possibilities do not confirm that another season has been ordered or establish what it would contain. Season 2 finale recap Recap of the finale

Netflix places Castlevania: Nocturne in France in 1792, during the French Revolution, and describes Annette as a Caribbean sorceress who seeks out Richter to lead resistance. The series is loosely based on the 1993 game Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. Netflix credits Kevin Kolde and Clive Bradley as showrunners, Bradley as creator and writer, Sam and Adam Deats as directors, and Project 51 Productions and Powerhouse Animation as producers. Kolde’s preview comments explain the setup, not the finale: “Alucard is going to lead Richter and Annette to Paris to try and find the last element that would allow Erzsebet to achieve the full power of Sekhmet and become even more powerful than she was in Season 1.” Netflix Tudum’s Season 2 preview No direct creator explanation of the Season 2 ending is established by these sources, so the reading of Annette’s agency rests on what the finale depicts rather than a stated showrunner interpretation.
