The viral Coldplay concert video showed Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot embracing on the venue screen and quickly moving out of view. It prompted a company investigation and both executives’ departures, but the footage and cited reporting do not establish that they had an affair. Chris Martin’s onstage remark about an affair was a joke, not a finding.
What the video showed
At a Coldplay concert in Massachusetts in July 2025, a camera segment put Byron and Cabot on the venue screen. They were seen embracing, then quickly trying to move out of view. The moment spread online and became known as the Coldplay kiss-cam video. Reuters, in a report carried by Inc., and the Associated Press reported on the clip and its aftermath.

When the pair appeared on screen, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joked: “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.” The line was a quip about their reaction, not evidence about their private relationship. An embrace and an attempt to avoid the camera do not, on their own, establish an affair.
How Astronomer responded
Astronomer put the executives on leave while it investigated, according to Axios. Reuters reported that Byron offered his resignation and the board accepted it. The Associated Press later reported that Cabot also resigned.

The cited reports do not establish what the investigation found. They therefore do not support a conclusion that the company confirmed an affair or a workplace policy violation. The documented outcome is the leave and the reported resignations—not a verified account of the pair’s private conduct.

The Associated Press reported that Coldplay streams increased 20% in the days after the video went viral, attributing the figure to music data company Luminate. The report gives a broad timeframe rather than an exact measurement window.
