In Netflix’s animated Castlevania: Nocturne, Richter Belmont is descended from Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades. His grandfather is Juste Belmont, and his mother is Julia Belmont. Netflix’s official material does not name every generation between Trevor and Sypha and Juste, or identify Richter’s father, so those places in the tree remain unspecified.
The Belmont family tree in Netflix’s animated continuity
The confirmed relationships form a short tree with an unfilled generational bridge:
Trevor Belmont + Sypha Belnades
↓ intervening generations not fully named in official sources
Juste Belmont
↓
Julia Belmont → Richter Belmont
Netflix identifies Trevor and Sypha as Richter’s ancestors, Juste as his grandfather, and Julia as his mother. The available official sources establish those connections but do not provide a complete, named chain linking the earlier couple to Juste. Netflix’s Season 1 ending explainer places Trevor and Sypha’s story centuries before Richter’s.

How Richter is related to each Belmont
Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades: ancestors
Trevor and Sypha are ancestors of Richter in the Netflix animated continuity. Their generation joined Alucard in opposing Dracula, centuries before the events of Nocturne. Their descendants connect them to Richter, but Netflix’s official explanations do not name every Belmont in between.
Juste Belmont: Richter’s grandfather
Juste is Richter’s grandfather. Netflix’s Season 2 coverage discusses the contrast between Richter and his grandfather, supporting that generational relationship.
Rank #2
Julia Belmont: Richter’s mother
Julia is Richter’s mother. Netflix’s preview of the series identifies Julia alongside young Richter, and its Nocturne coverage connects his story with his mother’s death.
Richter Belmont: the next vampire hunter in the family
Richter is the protagonist of Nocturne and carries on the Belmont vampire-hunting tradition. Showrunner Kevin Kolde describes him as “the tough young hero who’s continuing the family tradition of vampire hunting” in Netflix Tudum’s Season 2 article.

What the official family tree does not establish
- The intermediate generations: Netflix’s official material reviewed here does not name every Belmont between Trevor and Sypha and Juste. The gap should remain open rather than being filled with inferred names.
- Richter’s father: The sources do not identify him. They do not establish a name, marriage, or backstory for him.
Why this is the animated-series tree, not a universal game timeline
Castlevania: Nocturne is a stand-alone animated series that expands the franchise and is loosely based on the 1993 game Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, according to Netflix’s coverage of the series. That inspiration does not make the show’s relationships a definitive genealogy for every Castlevania game continuity. This tree describes the Netflix animated continuity.

Netflix’s official synopsis places Nocturne in France in 1792, during the French Revolution. Netflix’s Season 1 explainer situates Trevor and Sypha’s generation about three centuries earlier. The time gap helps explain why the family tree includes generations whose names the official sources do not enumerate; it does not, by itself, establish who those descendants were.
