The result is specific to the U.S. chart: the album peaked at No. 26 on the UK Official Albums Chart.

The album’s 200,000 first-week equivalent units combined three kinds of consumption. Billboard en Español reported this breakdown for the chart’s tracking week:

The components add to the reported 200,000 equivalent album units. The 145.72 million figure is a stream count, not an additional unit total. Billboard en Español also reported that the album opened at No. 1 on both Top Streaming Albums and Top Album Sales.
How Billboard 200 album units are calculated
Billboard en Español describes the Billboard 200 as combining album sales, track-equivalent album units and streaming-equivalent album units, using consumption data collected by Luminate. Its explanation equates one album unit to one album sale, 10 individual track sales, 3,750 ad-supported official on-demand streams, or 1,250 paid or subscription on-demand streams generated by the album’s songs. These conversion rates explain why the unit total and the number of streams are different measures.

Released September 19, 2025, AM I THE DRAMA? is Cardi B’s second full-length album and her follow-up to 2018’s Invasion of Privacy, according to Billboard Philippines. Billboard en Español reported different track counts by format:

Billboard also reported signed CDs, nine vinyl variants and deluxe box sets as part of the rollout; that reporting does not establish current prices or availability.
Why familiar singles are on the album
The inclusion of earlier hits “WAP” and “Up” prompted online criticism, according to the Associated Press. In a June post on X quoted by AP, Cardi B defended including them: “This will be the last and only time I’m gonna address this…‘WAP’ and ‘Up’ are two of my biggest songs…they deserve a home.” That statement explains her position on the track list; it is not a separate explanation of Billboard’s accounting.

Other chart impact—and the UK result
Sixteen songs from AM I THE DRAMA? entered the Hot 100 in the same week, a personal best for Cardi B, Billboard reported. That is a separate chart achievement from the album’s Billboard 200 ranking.
The No. 1 result should not be read as a global chart position. The UK Official Charts page lists the album’s peak at No. 26 on the Official Albums Chart and No. 37 on the separate Official Albums Chart Update. These are distinct UK chart listings, not the U.S. Billboard 200.
What the album title means to Cardi B
In an Apple Music interview with Zane Lowe, Cardi B connected the title to feeling scrutinized and described a period of writer’s block before the album. “For some reason, I’m getting tried even when I’m not saying nothing,” she said. She added: “And it’s like, damn—do drama chase me, or am I just the drama?”
