The Associated Press reported that Gaga closed the performance with, “We love you California.”
What Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga performed
The duo covered “California Dreamin’,” the song by The Mamas & The Papas. It was a joint performance during the GRAMMY telecast, not a performance of the pair’s own song “Die with a Smile.” The Associated Press described the cover as mournful and reported that images of wildfire devastation appeared before the performance. Why it was a tribute to Los Angeles
The performance was part of a segment focused on the Los Angeles wildfire crisis, intended to raise awareness and funds for relief. The Recording Academy said the 67th GRAMMY Awards would honor Los Angeles and support wildfire relief. The ceremony took place at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 2, 2025. Recording Academy performer announcement
In that announcement, the Recording Academy and MusiCares said they had raised and pledged more than $4 million in emergency aid for music professionals affected by the wildfires. That was the amount reported at the time of the announcement, not a final relief total, and it should not be attributed to Mars and Gaga personally.
