Boruto: Two Blue Vortex picks up three years after the events that upend Boruto and Kawaki’s lives. Boruto returns to a Konoha that regards him as the traitor who killed Naruto; he has been away training with Sasuke. The official synopses establish that setup, but they do not give a complete account of everything that happened during the gap.

How long is the time-skip?

The gap is three years. Shueisha’s synopsis says Boruto has been pursued for three years as the person who killed Naruto. That is the story’s in-world interval, not a release-time jump or a claim that every character’s circumstances stayed unchanged during it. Shueisha’s series page

What changed before the story resumes?

VIZ describes Boruto’s and Kawaki’s lives as having been switched by a powerful jutsu. In the aftermath, Boruto is branded a traitor and is on the run from Konoha, while Kawaki occupies the position that makes the accusation against Boruto possible. The publisher’s synopsis supports describing this as a reversal of their lives; it is not simply a disguise or an ordinary change of allegiance. VIZ’s volume 1 synopsis

What did Boruto do during the three years?

He trained with Sasuke

The official VIZ synopsis says Boruto trained with Sasuke while away from the village. It does not lay out a complete curriculum, explain how long each phase lasted, or list every skill Boruto acquired. The safest conclusion is that Sasuke was his trainer—not that the publisher’s summary confirms a particular power level or a full account of his growth.

A glimpse of their everyday life

In an official Q&A, author Mikio Ikemoto describes their food and cooking while they were away: “Boruto and Sasuke mainly ate fish caught in rivers or the sea, and wild birds (hunted using Lightning Style or shuriken, which also doubled as training). They’d also occasionally forage for wild plants and mushrooms. It appears their primary methods of cooking were either boiling or grilling.” Ikemoto also says Boruto began calling Sasuke “Master” the day after deciding to do so. These details offer a small domestic glimpse, not a full travel or training chronology. NARUTO OFFICIAL SITE Q&A

How does Boruto return to Konoha?

He reappears as the Hidden Leaf is under attack. Shueisha’s Japanese synopsis names Code and “爪アカ” among the attackers and describes Boruto showing up while Sarada and others respond. VIZ likewise frames his return around an attack on the village. The summaries establish the timing and broad circumstances, rather than every event in the confrontation. Which character developments belong to later chapters?

Some details commonly associated with the post-timeskip story come from later official volume descriptions, so they should not be presented as things that necessarily happened during the three-year gap.

  • Sarada: VIZ’s volume 6 description features her Mangekyo Sharingan powers.
  • Himawari: VIZ’s volume 3 description says her new ability is discovered.

These descriptions establish developments in the later story, not a complete timeline of when or how either development occurred. VIZ’s Two Blue Vortex volume listings
