CM Punk’s claim that he is doing the best work of his career is his own assessment, not an objective ranking established by available evidence. In an interview reported by F4W/WON on October 31, 2025, shortly after his 47th birthday, Punk said experience and continued growth were helping him in wrestling.
What CM Punk said at 47
F4W/WON reported on October 31, 2025, that Punk had celebrated his 47th birthday five days earlier, on October 26. The report covered a conversation with KSL News in Utah. Punk said, “I’m fortunate that I’m continuing to level up in this business,” and described himself as “‘this old’ and operating on this level, doing what to me is the best work of my career.” Read F4W/WON’s October 31, 2025 report.
His wording makes two things clear: he sees age and experience as advantages, and “best work” is explicitly his personal judgment. The report is not a comparative analysis of his matches across different stages of his career.
Why he says age is helping
Punk framed his age positively because he has accumulated experience while continuing to develop as a performer. “Leveling up,” in his description, is an ongoing process rather than a claim that age alone makes his work better. The reported conversation does not provide a detailed account of specific techniques, matches, or performance measures behind that assessment.

He repeated the view in February 2026
In a separate interview attributed to You Better You Bet, reported by WrestleTalk on February 6, 2026, Punk again said, “I think I’m doing the best work of my career, so why would I complain?” He added, “I’m just grateful for it all.” At that point, he cited being champion and appearing on the WWE 2K26 cover among the things he appreciated. Those details belong to the February interview, not the October 2025 conversation. They show that Punk maintained the same view and connected it with gratitude for his circumstances then; they do not establish an objective standard for ranking his career work. WWE announced WWE 2K26 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, with availability beginning March 6, 2026. See 2K’s WWE 2K26 announcement.

What the later title change means for the timeline
Punk’s championship status changed after the February interview. WWE’s archive says he held the Undisputed WWE Championship in a September 4, 2026 recap, then records Sami Zayn winning the title from him on September 11. That dated result prevents the February description of Punk as champion from being mistaken for his status after that change; it does not establish his title status at every later date. Not from these statements alone. The reports document Punk’s opinion and some of the career circumstances he cited, but they do not compare match quality across his career or supply an agreed scoring method. A championship reign or a video-game cover appearance may mark professional accomplishments, but neither proves that one period of a wrestler’s work is artistically superior to another.

The sound conclusion is narrow: at 47, Punk said he felt his experience and ongoing development were helping him produce what he considered the best work of his career. Whether fans agree depends on their own criteria and comparison of his different eras.
