Kyouka Izumi’s story turns on a sharp contrast: she is presented as a quiet girl in traditional Japanese dress, but the Port Mafia took her in as an orphan and raised her to be an assassin. Official character profiles trace the change that begins when she meets Atsushi and eventually joins the Armed Detective Agency. Here are 10 details those profiles establish, with each fact tied to its source and medium.
Her past in the Port Mafia
1. The Port Mafia took her in as an orphan
The official anime character profile describes Kyouka as an orphan taken in by the Port Mafia. That detail makes her history more than a simple choice to join a criminal organization: the group that later trained her also became her home. Official anime character profile.
2. She was raised as an assassin
Kyouka’s assassin training is stated in both official anime profiles. The Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! character listing adds that her upbringing left her unfamiliar with ordinary social customs. The profiles do not give a complete account of her training, so this fact should not be stretched into a detailed chronology. Anime profile; Wan character listing.
3. Her quiet appearance contrasts with her role
The official TV-anime profile pairs two descriptions that seem at odds: Kyouka is a quiet girl who wears traditional Japanese clothing, and she was raised as an assassin after becoming a Port Mafia member. That contrast is central to how the character is introduced. Official TV-anime profile.

The official character profile says Kyouka meets Atsushi and takes refuge with the Armed Detective Agency. It presents that encounter as an important step away from the life she had known in the Port Mafia. Official anime character profile.

10. Kouyou’s feelings for her are personal
Kouyou Ozaki’s official profile says she sympathized with Kyouka’s circumstances and cared for her like a younger sister. It also says Kouyou resents the Agency for taking Kyouka away.
