Elton John on Wilson’s influence and kindness
Elton John’s Instagram tribute, quoted by the Associated Press, joined personal affection with a measure of Wilson’s artistic impact. John wrote: “I grew to love him as a person, and for me, he was the biggest influence on my songwriting ever; he was a musical genius and revolutionary.”
The Guardian’s June 12 report also described John’s reflections on Wilson’s kindness and their collaborations. The accounts present Wilson not only as an admired composer but as someone John came to know personally. The Guardian’s report places John’s tribute alongside those of Wilson’s Beach Boys bandmates.

Al Jardine on Wilson as a teacher
Al Jardine spoke about Wilson on the BBC’s Today programme, as reported by The Guardian. He called Wilson “a real gentleman, a real musical intellect, who taught the world how to smile.” Jardine’s words emphasize Wilson’s musical intelligence and the emotional warmth he associated with his work.
Mike Love on the sound of the Beach Boys
In a written tribute reported by The Guardian, Mike Love described Wilson as more than the group’s heart: “Brian Wilson wasn’t just the heart of the Beach Boys – he was the soul of our sound.” Love’s remark frames Wilson’s contribution as central to the band’s musical identity.

For background on Wilson’s work, the Grand Ole Opry’s biography discusses Pet Sounds and notes that a 2001 Radio City tribute included a performance of the full album.
