In Box Office Mojo’s 2024 domestic table, It Ends With Us finished with $148,518,266 and Alien: Romulus with $105,313,091. Those are domestic totals in that table, not global grosses. Worldwide opening context
On August 18, 2024, Forbes reported that Alien: Romulus had made about $108 million worldwide in its opening frame. That was a contemporaneous report about the opening period, not the film’s final worldwide total. Forbes also described its domestic opening as roughly $41.5 million; the weekend chart and Box Office Mojo table give the domestic figure as $42,003,361. Trade reports may use rounded estimates and different reporting cutoffs: for example, TheWrap’s August 18 report used $41.5 million for the domestic opening.
The two films also drew on different source material: It Ends With Us is an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel, as noted in TheWrap’s opening-weekend coverage. That distinction does not change what the box-office comparisons measure.
