Travis Barker finished the Big 5 Sporting Goods LA5K in 22:31 during Los Angeles Marathon weekend in March 2025, according to two media reports. Both place him 95th among more than 8,000 competitors. “Impresses onlookers” appeared in PerthNow’s headline, but its story does not identify spectators or describe a specific reaction.
How fast did Travis Barker run the LA 5K?
PerthNow reported that Barker completed the Big 5 Sporting Goods LA5K in 22:31, a result Canadian Running Magazine also reported. PerthNow printed his pace as 4:30 per kilometre; that is the report’s rounded figure, not a separately verified race split. What place did Barker finish?
PerthNow reported that Barker placed 95th among more than 8,000 competitors. Canadian Running Magazine reported the same time and placing. Those figures put the performance in context without suggesting that the two reports are official timing records.
Why does Barker run?
Both reports connect running with Barker’s recovery after the 2008 plane crash. PerthNow quoted a statement from his Run Travis Run website in which he said that more than 70 per cent of his body was burned and that doctors told him he might never walk or play drums the same way again. He described feeling compelled to prove people wrong, including himself.

Barker also described how his running began: “It started off with short walks and then that turned into short runs everyday. I felt this sense of calmness and a rush of dopamine every time I ran. What kind of race is the LA 5K?
The McCourt Foundation, the event organizer, describes the LA 5K as open to runners, walkers and strollers of all ages and abilities. Its current event page lists the next race for March 6, 2027, with a route through Elysian Park that finishes near Dodger Stadium.
