A source told PEOPLE in April 2025 that Blake Lively had “no regrets” about suing It Ends With Us director and co-star Justin Baldoni. The source was unnamed, so the report was not a direct, on-the-record statement from Lively. The case has since moved on: Lively and Baldoni settled in May 2026, after a judge dismissed Lively’s sexual-harassment claims.
What the “no regrets” report said
In its April 11, 2025 report, PEOPLE attributed the view to a source it did not identify. The source described the decision as considered rather than spontaneous: “This wasn’t a decision made on a whim — it was months in the making.” The source also said, “She knew there would be backlash, and she prepared herself for how mentally and emotionally difficult it would be.” Read PEOPLE’s report.
According to the same source, Lively believed she was standing up for something wrong and kept her children’s interests in mind. Those are the source’s characterizations of her thinking, not independently verified statements from Lively. The reporting does not name the source, and no named person quoted in it personally confirmed Lively’s private view.
What the lawsuit concerned
The dispute arose from It Ends With Us, the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s 2016 novel. Lively’s lawsuit included allegations of sexual harassment; allegations are claims made in litigation, not findings that conduct occurred. The Associated Press identifies Hoover’s novel as the film’s source material in its later coverage. Associated Press coverage.
