Blake Lively said she baked a breast-shaped cake for her son Olin’s first birthday as a joke: at one, she reasoned, he could not tell her what he wanted. She shared the story on BBC Radio 2’s Zoe Ball and Friends.
What Blake Lively said about the cake
Lively described her birthday cakes as having “a little bit of a sense of humor.” Talking about Olin’s first birthday, she said she had made “a giant set of t–ts,” adding that she felt the cake would “haunt him for life.” Those are E! News’s reported words and its punctuation. E! News reported the anecdote on August 23, 2024.
She also explained the joke: “But what do they want at 1? Like, he can’t declare what he wants, so boobs.” The point, as she told it, was that a one-year-old could not choose his birthday cake.
Where and when she told the story
Lively discussed the cake on BBC Radio 2’s Zoe Ball and Friends. The Independent’s August 23, 2024 report prints the opening remark with different censoring—“a giant set of t***s”—rather than E! News’s rendering. E! News said a clip of Lively’s remarks was shared to Instagram on August 16, 2024. These are the outlets’ publication and clip dates; they do not establish the interview’s exact recording date.
