The Guardian estimated Björn Ulvaeus’s personal wealth at about $300 million (£235 million) in 2024. That figure is a media estimate, not an audited net-worth disclosure: the reporting reviewed does not provide a balance sheet or explain how the estimate was calculated. His work with ABBA, the Mamma Mia! musical and music-rights businesses helps explain the sources associated with his wealth, but the available figures do not establish his personal earnings or the value of his individual stakes.
Where does the $300 million estimate come from?
The Guardian reported the estimate in January 2024, putting Ulvaeus’s wealth at about $300 million (£235 million). The article does not present an audited personal balance sheet or a transparent calculation of assets and liabilities, so the amount should be treated as an attributed estimate rather than a verified current total. The Guardian’s 2024 reporting is the source for both the estimate and the Littlestar figures discussed below.

What the Mamma Mia! company figures do—and do not—show
The Guardian reported that Littlestar Services, the licensing and production company behind the Mamma Mia! musical, paid a £900,000 dividend to companies controlled by Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and producer Judy Craymer. It also reported that Littlestar paid £5.7 million in total fees to the musicians, Craymer and their companies, compared with £3.8 million in 2022.

These are company- and group-level figures. They do not disclose how much Ulvaeus personally received, and the dividend was paid to companies controlled by three people—not identified as an individual payment to him. Neither figure can be added to his personal wealth estimate as though it were his take-home income.

Songwriting and producing
Ulvaeus co-wrote and produced ABBA’s Voyage album with Andersson, according to ABBA’s official site. That creative work connects him to the group’s recorded catalogue, but the available sources do not state his royalty rate, personal royalty income or total earnings from the album.

Pop House and music-rights investment
ABBA’s official biography says Ulvaeus is involved in business projects, co-owns Pop House and has worked on software and systems intended to help songwriters and musicians receive royalties owed to them. The organization’s named properties include Cirkus Theater, Hasselbacken hotel, Pop House hotel and ABBA The Museum. These details document business involvement; they do not establish the present value of Ulvaeus’s ownership stake.
In 2024, the Associated Press reported that Pophouse Entertainment Group, which Ulvaeus co-founded, partnered with Cyndi Lauper in a deal involving the acquisition of a majority share of her music. The amount was undisclosed. The deal illustrates Pophouse’s activity in music-rights investment, but it does not reveal Ulvaeus’s personal proceeds or equity value.

ABBA Voyage
Ulvaeus has described the development of ABBA Voyage, including the original idea of touring as holograms and the involvement of Industrial Light & Magic, in a 2022 PBS interview. He recalled, “Well, there was an idea that we could go on tour as holograms, that was the first idea.” The interview provides context for his creative role, not a figure for his personal earnings. Project scale or attendance cannot by itself establish an individual’s net income.
