This guide separates confirmed releases from what cannot be reliably listed; it is a historical schedule, not a statement of what remains available today.
What were the biggest Netflix releases in August 2024?
The month’s most notable confirmed arrivals ranged from the conclusion of a popular scripted series to documentaries, animation, reality TV and a late-month horror film. Netflix’s schedules establish the dates below for its featured movie releases and the dated series premiere; they do not amount to a complete list of every licensed addition to the U.S. catalog.
August 2: Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie

Lee Daniels directed this horror film, which stars Andra Day, Glenn Close, Mo’Nique, Omar Epps and Caleb McLaughlin. Its story brings together a struggling family, alleged demonic activity, child-protection scrutiny and religious conflict. Netflix describes it as inspired by a true story; that should not be mistaken for a claim that every event is documented fact. The scheduled Netflix release was August 30. Netflix’s movie schedule lists the date and film details.
Which Netflix series arrived in August?
Love Is Blind: UK
The first U.K. edition of the dating franchise was scheduled for August 2024 and hosted by Matt and Emma Willis. Netflix’s annual preview gave the month but not a specific day, so the schedule supports an August window—not a precise premiere date. Netflix’s show schedule lists the edition and hosts.

Other midmonth releases
Netflix’s contemporaneous August coverage also highlighted Inside the Mind of a Dog and Blue Ribbon Baking Championship as new offerings by August 9, and Emily in Paris Season 4, Part 1 alongside Daughters and The Union on August 16. These roundups confirm those titles were among the releases being featured at the time, but the cited schedule material does not establish a complete, date-by-date catalog for every August addition. Netflix’s August 9 viewing roundup and August 16 roundup provide that contemporary context.

Netflix published an August departures notice on July 31, 2024, but the accessible index listing that article does not show its title-by-title contents or departure dates. Without those details, it would be misleading to publish a supposedly complete U.S. leaving calendar or to guess which films and shows departed on particular days. Netflix’s Tudum topic index confirms the notice’s existence and date, but not the individual departures.
