Berserk: The Black Swordsman was a fan-made animation project from Studio Eclypse—not an announcement of a new, authorized Berserk anime. Its teaser and promotional material were part of a campaign that led to a trailer reported on May 18, 2024. The headline’s “new teaser” framing refers to that past campaign; it does not establish a new teaser or release date in 2026.
What was the teaser for?
Studio Eclypse promoted Berserk: The Black Swordsman as a fan animation based on Kentaro Miura’s manga. Coverage in March 2024 described it as fan-made and noted that its presentation could be mistaken for an official anime announcement. The teaser and associated promotional material were part of the project’s buildup to a longer trailer, not proof that a licensed adaptation had been announced.
For readers new to Berserk, “Black Swordsman” refers to Guts, the manga’s central character. The project drew on the existing manga; it was not presented in the available reporting as an authorized continuation of the franchise on screen.
When did the trailer come out?

This chronology explains the title’s teaser-before-trailer wording: it describes a stage in the project’s 2023–2024 promotion. It should not be read as breaking news about a 2026 teaser.

Was Studio Eclypse’s project official?
No. The available reporting characterizes it as fan-made and unauthorized. Search results reproducing Studio Eclypse’s account say the project had not been approved by the rights holders and that the studio was warned against publishing Berserk animation. Separately, a September 2024 LOS40 report attributed to publisher Hakusensha the position that the project was unauthorized and used Berserk material without permission. Read LOS40’s report.
Those accounts are not a court ruling, and they do not establish a legal outcome. They do establish why the project should not be described as an official or licensed Berserk anime.

Is there a current release date or production update?
The available reports establish the 2024 trailer chronology, but they do not verify a current production schedule, an authorized release date, or a new teaser in October 2026. Historical plans or promotional dates should not be treated as a current release commitment.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Where does the project fit for a newcomer?
Start with the distinction between the manga and the fan animation: Miura’s Berserk manga is the source material, while Studio Eclypse’s project was an unauthorized fan work. A teaser or trailer can show what that fan project intended to make; it cannot confirm a licensed screen adaptation or substitute for an official release announcement.
