Yes. Estelle Brown, a member of the Sweet Inspirations, is a recent documented example. Richard Sterban and Larry Strickland, who sang with Elvis in the Stamps Quartet’s later backing lineup, also have recent evidence of being alive. Elvis worked with several vocal groups across different eras, so there was no single, fixed group of “backup singers.”
Which of Elvis’s backup singers are documented as living?
- Estelle Brown: A March 2026 radio interview listing identifies Brown as the last surviving member of the Sweet Inspirations and as an Elvis backup singer. That is a recent source-supported example, not a complete roll call of living singers. March 2026 interview listing
- Larry Strickland: Graceland’s August 2026 article said Strickland would appear at an Elvis Week recognition event, indicating he was alive at the time of publication. Graceland, August 2026
- Richard Sterban: An Oak Ridge Boys health update in September 2025 reported that Sterban had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was receiving treatment. It establishes his status at that time, not his status today. Oak Ridge Boys, September 2025
These examples span different groups and years. The available evidence does not establish the current status of every singer who performed or recorded with Elvis.
