Ben Cousins said watching his first Dancing With the Stars performance back was “hard to watch” because he knew what was coming. He and partner Siobhan Power danced a Foxtrot on the Australian show’s Sunday launch episode, earning 14 out of 30 points from the judges.
Why Cousins found the broadcast hard to watch
In an interview with Mix94.5’s Pete & Kymba for Breakfast, reported by PerthNow on 8 July 2024, Cousins said he watched the episode from the kitchen while cooking a steak. He looked away at points, knowing what was about to appear on screen.

“It was hard to watch last night because I knew what was coming!” he said. He also joked that editing could not make his first episode look positive: “Whatever they did with the editing, no matter how clever they got, it was going to be almost impossible to put a positive spin on my first episode!”
What the judges said—and how it affected him
The judges told Cousins to “tuck his bum in.” The comment made him self-conscious. He said afterward: “I can honestly say there is not a shop window that I don’t walk past today and still don’t do a double take to see how my bum’s looking! I’ve become very self-conscious!”

Power saw strengths in the Foxtrot
Power said she was pleased when she watched the footage, which was the first time the pair had seen it. She praised Cousins’s footwork and timing, saying: “He danced everything — he did not miss a step, he didn’t miss a beat!”
Cousins also said Power’s support mattered after the performance, recalling her cuddle and encouragement.

What the score establishes
The Foxtrot received 14 out of 30 points. PerthNow reported that Lisa and Ian scored 30 points and won the night. Its headline described Cousins and Power’s result as bottom-placed, but the accessible report does not provide a complete leaderboard; the 14-point score is the specific result it establishes. It does not establish a later elimination or the pair’s overall season outcome.
