What the report alleged
Life & Style published the story on May 16, 2024, attributing its account of a disagreement to an unnamed source. The source was quoted as saying: “If it wasn’t for J. Lo, Ben would never get work done, but she convinced him that everybody in Hollywood does a little facial maintenance.” That is the outlet’s quotation of an anonymous source—not a statement from Affleck or Lopez, and not independent confirmation of a private conversation or a cosmetic procedure.
A separate Enstarz report also attributed the claim to an unnamed source and said it could not independently verify the claims. Neither report establishes that Affleck received Botox, another injectable, or any other facial treatment.
Life & Style’s May 16 report and Enstarz’s May 7 report should therefore be read as coverage of an allegation, not a verified account.

The reports followed Affleck’s May 5, 2024 appearance at Netflix’s Tom Brady roast. Viewers made online remarks about how he looked, and the Life & Style story presented those reactions as the context for the alleged disagreement. Social-media comments are opinions and speculation; they do not show whether someone has had a procedure.
What Botox is—and what the FDA says
Botox is a prescription botulinum toxin product, not an over-the-counter cosmetic. The FDA says patients should receive approved products from an authorized source and have them administered by a licensed health professional trained to give the injection. Its guidance describes temporary reduction in muscle movement and approved uses for certain facial lines. Reported trial side effects include facial weakness and drooping eyelids or brows; rare adverse events can include double vision, dry eyes, or difficulty swallowing or breathing. The FDA has also warned about unapproved or misbranded botulinum toxin products. In 2025, it said it issued 18 warning letters to websites illegally marketing such products. The agency warns that botulism symptoms can include muscle weakness and difficulty breathing, and directs people experiencing trouble swallowing or breathing after an injection to seek immediate medical care. The available reporting supports only that an anonymous source was quoted making the allegation after online reactions to Affleck’s appearance. It does not confirm that Affleck had Botox, that Lopez encouraged him to get it, or that the couple argued about it. Appearance-based speculation cannot establish medical treatment.
