When are Avengers 5 and 6 coming out?
| Film | Current announced date | Earlier date | What the date is based on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Avengers: Doomsday (Avengers 5) | December 18, 2026, US theatrical release | May 1, 2026 | Disney’s current US release materials list December 18, 2026. The Walt Disney Company, July 25, 2026 |
| Avengers: Secret Wars (Avengers 6) | December 17, 2027 | May 7, 2027 | The December date was reported after Disney’s 2025 schedule change; the 2026 official materials reviewed here do not restate a newer date. Los Angeles Times, May 23, 2025 |
Why the release dates changed
In March 2025, D23 reported May 1, 2026, for Doomsday and May 7, 2027, for Secret Wars. Disney later moved both films to December in their respective years: Doomsday to December 18, 2026, and Secret Wars to December 17, 2027. The cited schedule-change report does not establish a reason for the move, so there is no confirmed explanation to add.
D23’s March 26, 2025 report gives the earlier dates. The later shift was reported by the Los Angeles Times on May 23, 2025.
Why the UK date for Doomsday is different
Disney UK lists Avengers: Doomsday for December 16, 2026, while Disney’s US materials list December 18. These are regional release dates, not contradictory dates for the same territory. The UK date and film details appear in Disney UK’s July 20, 2026 press release.

What is confirmed about the films
Avengers: Doomsday
Disney describes heroes from three distinct universes being drawn onto a collision course to face an existential threat. The July 2026 press release names Anthony and Joe Russo as directors and Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Jonathan Schwartz as producers. Its cast list includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, among others. Cast announcements can change, so this is the list in that release rather than a guarantee of a final or exhaustive lineup. See Disney UK’s announcement.
Avengers: Secret Wars
D23 reported in March 2025 that the Russo brothers would also direct Secret Wars. The 2026 official materials cited here do not provide an updated production or cast briefing for that film, so no newer details are established here.

Does the Secret Wars comic reveal the movie’s plot?
No confirmed film description in the cited official materials says that the movie directly adapts the 1984 Secret Wars comics. Marvel’s guide to the Secret Wars comics is useful background on the comic event and Doctor Doom’s role, but it should not be treated as confirmation of the film’s story.
