Batman: Arkham Shadow casts Elijah Wood as Dr. Jonathan Crane, the man who becomes Scarecrow. Wood provides both Crane’s voice and motion-capture performance. Camouflaj revealed the casting in a launch Q&A reported on October 21, 2024.
Who plays Scarecrow in Batman: Arkham Shadow?
Elijah Wood plays Dr. Jonathan Crane, Scarecrow’s identity before his transformation. The announcement named Wood as both the character’s voice actor and motion-capture performer. Road to VR reported the reveal on October 21, 2024, describing a video announcement during Camouflaj’s launch Q&A.
In the video, Wood said he was a longtime Batman fan and intrigued by the prospect of the next Arkham chapter being made entirely in VR. Road to VR reproduced his remarks.
How does Crane fit into the story?
DC’s official listing presents Dr. Crane before he becomes Scarecrow, so the casting is an origin-era portrayal rather than a description of his later identity or transformation. The published setup places Batman in Gotham around the Fourth of July, as the Rat King and his followers threaten the city. DC’s June 11, 2024 story-trailer feature also discusses the younger Batman and Harleen Quinzel, before she becomes Harley Quinn.
