Who were the babies, and when were they born?
Johnny Cash Davis is the son of Nicole and Johnny Lee Davis Jr. June Carter Clark is the daughter of Sophie and Carter Clark. Both were born on April 10, 2024, at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children in Huntsville, Alabama.

Good Morning America reported that June arrived at 2:30 p.m. and Johnny at 9:50 p.m. GMA’s report includes interviews with both mothers and the birth times.
How did the families choose the names?
The parents said the names arose separately, without a plan to name the babies after Johnny Cash and June Carter. Nicole Davis explained that men in her son’s family had been named John: “All the men in his family had been named John,” she told Simplemost, as quoted by Scripps News. The family considered other middle names before settling on Cash.

Sophie Clark said her sister suggested June after the family struggled to choose a name: “We really couldn’t decide on a name and my sister said ‘June’,” she told Simplemost, as quoted by Scripps News. Carter is her husband’s first name. Clark told GMA, “I just started calling her June Carter and everybody loved it. Our families loved it and it just kind of fell into place.”
How did the parents discover the coincidence?
A relative visiting June encountered Johnny’s father in a hospital elevator and mentioned that the baby was named June Carter. The families then connected with help from hospital staff and arranged to meet and photograph the newborns together. Nicole Davis described her reaction to GMA: “I thought it was a bizarre coincidence. And I was like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me.’ When I realized they named her June Carter and we named our baby Johnny Cash, and that [they were born the same day], it got a little bit more intensified at that point.”

Did the families stay in touch?
Both families said they hoped to keep in touch. Davis told GMA she was excited to make opportunities for the children to spend time together as they grew up. Scripps News reported a plan for the families to meet at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry, described in that report as where the original Johnny Cash and June Carter first met in 1956. The reviewed reports do not confirm whether the planned visit or a later playdate took place.

The news reports describe an unusual personal coincidence, but they do not provide a birth-dataset analysis or a probability estimate for how often it happens. The reported birth times and the families’ account establish the details of this story; they do not show that the event is statistically unique. Coverage includes a WAFF/Gray News account carried by WBTV, alongside interviews reported by GMA and Scripps News. These are news accounts, not public hospital records.
