Ariana Madix replaced Sarah Hyland as host of Love Island USA beginning with Season 6 in 2024. Hyland said she was leaving because filming for another project conflicted with the show’s schedule. Madix continued in the role: NBCUniversal confirmed her return for Season 8, which premiered in 2026.
Who replaced Sarah Hyland on Love Island USA?
Peacock confirmed Madix as the new host on March 29, 2024, one day after Hyland announced she would not return for the next summer. Madix had appeared as a guest during Season 5; starting with Season 6, she took over as host. The season premiered June 11, 2024, and streamed exclusively on Peacock, according to the Season 6 announcement.

Madix’s first season as host began at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT, with new episodes six days a week. These are the Season 6 launch details, not a schedule for later seasons.
Why did Sarah Hyland leave?
Hyland’s stated reason was a scheduling conflict: filming dates for another project clashed with Love Island USA. USA Network reported that explanation and reproduced a statement Hyland posted to Instagram Stories: “I’m disappointed the news had to break this way but it is in fact true that I will not be returning to the island this summer.” The statement was not made in a direct interview with USA Network. The reporting describes a date conflict, not a dispute with the show.

Hyland hosted Seasons 4 and 5. Her departure was announced on March 28, 2024; Peacock named Madix as her replacement the following day.
Is Ariana Madix still the host?
Yes. NBCUniversal’s March 13, 2026 announcement renewed the series for Season 8 and confirmed Madix would return as host. Season 8, set in Fiji, premiered June 2, 2026. She was therefore not a one-season substitute.

NBCUniversal also reported that Season 7 generated more than 18.4 billion minutes streamed, while a June 2026 announcement cited 223 million social engagements for that season. Both are publisher-reported figures; neither establishes why Madix was cast or why Hyland left.
