Bad Bunny’s 2026 Grammy Album of the Year acceptance speech was mostly in Spanish, with its closing dedication delivered in English. He thanked Puerto Rico, the Recording Academy, the people who supported his career, his album collaborators and his mother before dedicating the award to people who left home to pursue their dreams. The Recording Academy hosts the official speech video; the English versions below are translations published by news outlets, not an official Academy transcript.
Which Bad Bunny Grammy speech is this?
This is his Album of the Year acceptance speech for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, not his earlier speech for Best Música Urbana Album. The Recording Academy lists him as the 2026 Album of the Year winner for the record. The Associated Press reported that it was the first Spanish-language album to win the Grammy’s top prize.
The Academy’s award description says Album of the Year recognizes the artist and other credited contributors for an album’s overall achievement, with considerations including performance, production, engineering and mixing, songwriting, arranging and musicianship. Its award page records the win, and its video page identifies the acceptance speech.

How published translations differ
English translations are editorial choices, so their wording is not identical. The Independent and Capital published versions on February 2, 2026. Around the Puerto Rico line, one uses “believe me when I tell you” and the other “believe me when I say.” They also differ in whether they explicitly add “miles” to the translated “100 by 35” expression. Those are translation variations, not evidence of different speeches.
- The Independent’s translation and Capital’s translation preserve their respective wording and sequence.
- Elle’s version also includes a final Spanish dedication to people who have lost loved ones and continued forward. That additional line should be attributed to Elle’s editorial translation rather than silently folded into another outlet’s version: Elle’s translation.
For the whole performance, use the Academy’s official video. For a written English rendering, identify the publisher whose translation you are reading rather than combining several versions into a supposedly verbatim transcript.

What the speech says beyond the closing dedication
The order of thanks gives the speech its shape: Bad Bunny addresses Puerto Rico, thanks God and the Recording Academy, acknowledges people who believed in his career and those who worked on the album, and thanks his mother. The final dedication broadens the moment beyond the award itself, recognizing people who leave their homeland to pursue their dreams.
The translations render the Puerto Rico phrase as “100 by 35”; some versions make the implied unit explicit as miles. Because that wording comes through translation, retain the outlet’s wording and attribution when quoting it.
