Iggy Azalea performed at the AVN Awards in Las Vegas on January 27, 2024, after announcing that she would not finish her anticipated album and wanted to explore other creative work. Her appearance and her use of OnlyFans prompted headlines about an “X-rated” career move, but the available reporting does not establish that she became a porn performer or permanently retired from music.
What Iggy Azalea announced about her music career
In January 2024, Azalea said she would not complete the album she had been working toward. She explained that she had not felt the urge to return to that project and wanted to focus on other creative avenues. Billboard characterized the announcement as an apparent retirement, but that description should not be mistaken for a declaration that she would never make music again. Billboard’s January 2024 report attributes the shift to her stated creative priorities.
That announcement was about an album and a change in focus—not a verified, permanent end to her recording or performing career. The reporting cited here does not establish her current plans.
Why she appeared at the AVN Awards
Azalea was announced as a performer for the 2024 AVN Awards and took the stage at the ceremony in Las Vegas on January 27, 2024. In a statement quoted by Hot 97’s January 2024 event report, she said she was “thrilled” to perform at what she called a celebration of “passion, fearlessness, and artistic expression.” AVN CEO Tony Rios likewise welcomed her participation in a statement quoted by The Daily Caller in December 2023.

What she said about OnlyFans
In an interview recorded around the AVN event, Azalea described posting sexy pictures on OnlyFans rather than Instagram, calling the platform “very lucrative.” That is her own characterization of the platform’s appeal, not audited evidence of her income. The interview transcript was published by the interview source.

How the move fits her documented music career
Azalea’s career had a substantial chart history before the January 2024 announcement. Billboard’s 2024 coverage identified The New Classic as her debut studio album and reported that it reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200. In that same 2024 snapshot, Billboard counted four Billboard 200 entries, 13 Hot 100 entries, and three Hot 100 top-ten hits. Those figures describe Billboard’s reporting at the time, rather than a newly updated chart tally. Billboard’s career coverage provides that context.

What the “X-rated career move” headline leaves out
The phrase can imply a more explicit career change than the documented facts support. The available reporting describes Azalea’s comments about sexy pictures on a subscription platform and confirms a live performance at the AVN Awards. It does not establish that she became a porn performer, nor does the event itself prove a permanent departure from music. The clearest supported account is that she shelved an anticipated album, expressed interest in other creative work, used OnlyFans for content she described as sexy pictures, and performed at the 2024 ceremony.
