Audible announced its Standard membership in the U.S. on March 3, 2026, at a launch price of $8.99 a month—$5.96 less than Premium’s $14.95 monthly price. Standard includes one monthly audiobook selection from Audible’s full catalog, but that title is available only while the membership is active. Its unlimited listening benefit covers a curated selection, not the full catalog included with Premium.
What Audible Standard includes
Audible says Standard provides one audiobook selection each month from its full catalog, plus unlimited, ad-free listening from a curated selection. The company described that selection as including Audible Originals and nearly 200 popular titles previously available on Wondery+. The monthly audiobook is not a permanent purchase: access lasts only while the Standard membership remains active.
Audible announced Standard for the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany and France, with testing underway in additional marketplaces. Availability and terms may differ by country.

Which plan makes more sense?
Choose Standard if you want a lower monthly bill
Standard may suit lighter listeners who want one audiobook selection a month and are content with the curated unlimited-listening selection. The trade-off is that neither that selection nor the curated catalog should be treated as access that continues after cancellation.
Choose Premium Plus if keeping your monthly audiobook matters
Premium Plus costs more, but Audible describes its monthly credit as a way to purchase an audiobook to keep regardless of membership status. It also includes the full unlimited listening catalog rather than Standard’s curated selection. That difference matters if you want lasting access to credited titles or rely on a broader included catalog.

What Audible has said about the launch
Audible Chief Financial & Growth Officer Cynthia Chu said the Standard plan was intended to serve different listening habits and expand access for lighter listeners. Audible also reported that early testing in the U.K. and Australia produced a “strong double digit percentage increase” in new member sign-ups compared with previous offerings. That figure is Audible’s account of its early testing, not an independently verified result. The company projected that expansion across the launch markets would bring millions of new consumers into Audible over the following year; that is a projection, not a confirmed outcome.
