Premium’s monthly credit buys a title you can keep regardless of membership status. Standard also has a smaller included streaming selection: it offers a curated catalog, not Premium’s full unlimited-listening catalog.
What is Audible Standard, and where is it available?
Audible announced Standard on March 3, 2026. The plan lets members choose one audiobook each month from Audible’s full catalog and listen to it while their membership remains active. Audible said the plan was immediately available in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany, and France, with testing underway in additional markets. The announcement described prices outside the U.S. as comparable but did not state exact local prices. Audible’s announcement

What do you lose with Audible Standard?
Ongoing access to the monthly audiobook after cancellation
Standard’s monthly selection is not a keep-forever purchase: Audible says access lasts for as long as membership remains active. If you cancel, you should not expect to retain access to that selected title through Standard. With Premium, the monthly credit buys an audiobook to keep regardless of membership status. That difference is the key trade-off for anyone who wants to build a lasting library.
Access to Premium’s full unlimited-listening catalog
Standard includes unlimited listening to a curated selection, including selected Audible Originals and nearly 200 titles previously available on Wondery+. Premium includes access to Audible’s full unlimited-listening catalog. The Standard plan therefore does include streaming, but its included selection is narrower.

Is Audible Standard worth it compared with Premium?
Standard may suit a listener who wants one audiobook available at a time, is content with the curated streaming selection, and expects to keep the membership active. Premium is the better fit to consider if keeping credited audiobooks after cancellation or having access to the broader unlimited-listening catalog matters more than the monthly price difference. The right choice depends on how you use the included selection and whether permanent access to each monthly pick is important to you.
For a U.S. member paying monthly, Standard is $5.96 less per month than Premium at the currently displayed prices. That comparison does not account for changing offers, billing-channel differences, or the value a listener places on Premium’s broader catalog and keep-forever credit title.
