At the Palm Springs International Film Festival on January 4, 2024, Ferrera described the friendship as “incredibly supportive and meaningful” two decades after the first film. She said she felt lucky to have the other three women in her life and called them “my girls.”
Ferrera also said they had grown up together in the same industry and seen one another through life and career milestones. Her comments offer a direct account of how she viewed the friendship at that time.

December 2023: a celebration for Ferrera
The four reunited in person in December 2023 to celebrate Ferrera and her performance in Barbie. Ferrera’s post called them her “Sisterhood” and said she loved them “with all my heart.” Entertainment Tonight reported on the reunion and Ferrera’s comments.

January 2024: celebrating her Oscar nomination
After Ferrera was nominated for an Oscar for Barbie, her former co-stars celebrated with her over a group FaceTime call. The call was another public sign of support, though it does not establish how often the women meet or speak privately. People reported on the FaceTime celebration.
August 2025: Tamblyn’s birthday tribute to Lively
Tamblyn wished Lively a happy birthday in a public message, calling her “my sister from another mister” and praising her for showing up and making people feel like family. How the films fit into the story
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants premiered on June 1, 2005, and its sequel arrived on August 6, 2008. The story follows four friends connected by a shared pair of pants, a premise that made the cast’s real-life friendship an enduring point of audience interest. Entertainment Tonight’s January 2024 report gives the release dates and context.
A third film has been discussed, but discussion is not confirmation of a production. In 2019, Ferrera called another installment a “vision and a dream” for the cast. That statement does not establish that a third movie is currently greenlit or being made. Entertainment Tonight reported Ferrera’s remarks at the time.

What the public evidence can—and cannot—show
The clearest evidence is the women’s own public language and the occasions on which they appeared or celebrated together: Ferrera’s 2024 comments, the December 2023 reunion, the group call after her nomination, and Tamblyn’s 2025 tribute to Lively. Taken together, these support a straightforward answer that the actresses have maintained a meaningful friendship publicly.
They do not reveal the group’s day-to-day closeness or settle every private relationship. The most recent item here is Tamblyn’s August 2025 message to Lively; the latest direct group interview and reunion reporting cited above are from January 2024.
