Prominent actors, musicians, athletes and other public figures appeared at Paris 2024 in several different roles: watching competitions, attending ceremony-related events, performing, or working for broadcasters. Notable reported sightings included Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo at women’s gymnastics qualification, Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes at dressage in Versailles, and Lady Gaga—both an opening-ceremony performer and a spectator at later events. This is a representative roundup, not a complete attendance list.
Celebrity spectators at Olympic competitions
Public figures turned up at venues across Paris and beyond. The City of Paris’s retrospective records Zendaya at competition venues and reports several specific sightings. Its examples illustrate the range of sports and locations, rather than establish a complete roster of attendees.
- Gymnastics: Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo attended women’s artistic gymnastics qualification on July 28. Spike Lee was seen at American gymnastics events, and Natalie Portman attended the women’s gymnastics team competition on July 30. The City of Paris also reports Tom Cruise at Bercy Arena; Good Morning America separately documents him at gymnastics.
- Dressage: Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes were reported at the dressage trials in Versailles on August 4.
- Tennis: Sharon Stone was reported at the men’s final on August 4. Anna Wintour was also seen at tennis, according to Good Morning America.
- Other venues: John Travolta was at Bercy Arena on August 3. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were reported at events; Good Morning America specifies skateboarding. Steven Spielberg attended the July 25 Prelude to the Olympics, rather than a competition.
These dated examples come from the City of Paris’s retrospective roundup, with additional event context from Good Morning America. They do not establish how long any individual stayed in Paris.
Opening ceremony and related appearances
The opening ceremony and the events around it brought another group of well-known names into view. Those appearances should not automatically be read as attendance at a sporting event.

- Serena Williams, Charlize Theron, Rosalía and Omar Sy co-hosted the Prelude event, according to Sky News. Zendaya, Mick Jagger and Snoop Dogg were among those spotted there.
- Kelly Clarkson, Michelle Yeoh, Flavor Flav, John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Jessica Chastain and Tyla were among the high-profile people Euronews reported in Paris in its July 30 roundup. That article was published during the Games and included arrivals and Prelude-related appearances, not solely competition spectators.
For the event-specific distinctions, see Sky News, Good Morning America and Euronews.
When a celebrity was also part of the broadcast
Some familiar faces had an official media role, so their presence should not be described only as a celebrity sighting. Snoop Dogg was a torchbearer, attended events as a fan and worked as an NBC primetime correspondent. The Associated Press reported that he saw the role as a way to reach viewers beyond the usual sports audience: “We speak to a broader audience,” he said.

NBC also used entertainers in its coverage: Kelly Clarkson and Peyton Manning co-hosted the opening ceremony, while Snoop Dogg served as a correspondent. That is different from confirming that every on-air personality watched a competition in person. The AP’s account of the network’s approach is available at the Associated Press.

The available reporting documents notable appearances, not a complete count or census. The City of Paris published a retrospective roundup, while Euronews’s “so far” article was published on July 30, 2024, during the Games. Together, these accounts support a varied selection of reported sightings, but not a claim that every celebrity who attended has been identified. The City of Paris’s French retrospective roundup was explicitly updated on August 9, 2024, as noted on its retrospective page.
