Mikaela Testa read his first shirt as a sign he had picked a side; that was her interpretation, not a public statement from Drake.
What Drake wore in Brisbane
At a Brisbane concert, Drake wore a black shirt bearing the words “It made me feel broke,” PerthNow reported on February 25, 2025. The phrase echoed Anna Paul’s explanation of how she experienced her family’s financial circumstances as a child. PerthNow also reported that Drake wore a second shirt reading “Anna vs. Mikaela” at an afterparty.
The phrase was already circulating online: PerthNow said DJ Chumpion had made a TikTok remix pairing Paul’s response with the song “I Need A Dollar.” That context makes the shirt a recognizable meme reference, but it does not establish what Drake intended by wearing it. PerthNow’s February 25 report described the Brisbane appearances and the meme’s origins.
What the feud was about
Testa’s allegations and Paul’s denial
PerthNow reported that the dispute became public after Testa posted an eight-minute video on January 29, 2025. The outlet summarized Testa’s allegations as claims that Paul exploited fans, fabricated stories about her upbringing and made disrespectful remarks about supporters. Paul defended herself and denied the allegations. The reporting does not independently establish either woman’s claims.

The disagreement over growing up “broke”
Pedestrian.TV quoted Testa saying Paul’s family had lived in a house on the water with a built-in pool, and saying, “Being upper middle class is not being poor.” Paul’s response, as quoted by PerthNow, was: “When I said I grew up broke, that is my experience, that is how I felt. When I can hear my parents talking in the kitchen that the budget for the groceries that week is $30, it makes me feel broke.” The $30 is part of Paul’s recollection of a weekly grocery budget; it is not an independently verified measure of household income. These statements describe the women’s competing accounts, not a settled assessment of the family’s finances. Pedestrian.TV’s February 25 coverage reported Testa’s comments and reaction to Drake’s shirt.
Why people thought Drake had chosen a side
Testa shared an image of Drake in the “It made me feel broke” shirt on Instagram and called the move “funny” and “iconic.” In an Instagram Story quoted by Pedestrian.TV, she wrote: “It looks like @champagnepapi (Drake’s IG handle) has picked his side with this ‘I feel broke’ tee in tonights show in my city LMAO.” Her post shows how she interpreted the shirt; it does not confirm Drake’s position.

A later Indy100 report described Drake wearing an “Anna max win” shirt at a subsequent Melbourne concert and said he had not publicly stated where he stood. Taken together, the reported shirts suggest playful references to the feud, but the available coverage does not show Drake explicitly endorsing Paul or Testa. Indy100’s later report covered the Melbourne shirt and the absence of a public statement on his position.
