Abbie Chatfield announced on 27 October 2023 that she was stepping down as co-host of that year’s Fridayz Live tour, saying she was uncomfortable doing the job while a lawsuit involving headliner Jason Derulo and allegations of sexual harassment remained unresolved. The allegations were not court findings; Derulo denied them. A later California dismissal turned on where the dispute could be heard, not on whether the alleged conduct occurred.
Why Abbie Chatfield left Fridayz Live
In her public statement, Chatfield said an active lawsuit involving the headliner included an allegation of sexual harassment. She stressed that the claims were allegations and had not been resolved in court, but said she did not feel comfortable performing her co-host duties while the legal matters were outstanding. She described the decision as her personal stance and said she was likely to step away from future years as well.

Fridayz Live promoter Frontier Touring gave a shorter explanation, saying Chatfield was no longer available for personal reasons. The promoter’s statement and Chatfield’s own account should be kept distinct: the lawsuit was the reason she gave, while the promoter did not publicly elaborate on it. ABC News Australia reported her announcement and the promoter’s statement.
What the lawsuit alleged—and Derulo’s response
Singer Emaza Gibson filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County on 5 October 2023. Her complaint alleged sexual harassment, intimidation and breach of contract against Derulo and other defendants. Those are claims made in a complaint, not established facts. The complaint filed by Gibson sets out the allegations.

Derulo publicly denied the claims, calling them “completely false and hurtful.” He also said, “I stand against all forms of harassment and I remain supportive of anybody following their dreams,” as quoted by ABC News Australia.
What the California court did—and did not decide
The California court dismissed claims against Derulo and Atlantic on forum-selection grounds: the relevant provisions directed disputes to New York. That is a procedural decision about the proper forum, not a ruling on whether the alleged harassment occurred. A later court document recorded dismissal of the amended complaint as to Future History and denied Gibson’s request to vacate the earlier dismissal. The cited rulings did not determine the merits of the harassment allegations.

The Los Angeles County Superior Court ruling dated 16 April 2024 and Rolling Stone’s contemporaneous report describe the forum-selection basis for the dismissal. It would therefore be inaccurate to say the court found the allegations false or disproved them.
What is known about the later New York case
In 2026, Gibson’s counsel said the New York lawsuit remained pending. That status is attributable to counsel’s statement; it is not an independently verified check of the current court docket. The available information does not establish a final outcome. Derek Smith Law Group published counsel’s statement.

Fridayz Live context and timing
Fridayz Live’s 2023 run was a multi-city R&B concert tour across Australia and New Zealand. Its lineup included Derulo, Boyz II Men, Flo Rida and Kelly Rowland, among other performers. The tour in question is historical; its 2023 dates have passed.
Organisers later said Fridayz Live would not go ahead in 2026 and was planned to return in 2027, according to Rolling Stone Australia’s 6 July 2026 report. A planned return is not confirmation that future dates or ticket sales are available.
