They have four daughters and later returned to the game together for Survivor: Winners at War.
How did Boston Rob and Amber meet?
Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich, as she was then known, met as contestants on Survivor: All-Stars. Rob had previously competed on Survivor: Marquesas, and Amber on The Australian Outback. They returned for the 2004 all-returnee season, filmed in 2003, where their alliance developed into a romance. Rob’s official biography and Us Weekly’s relationship timeline recount the milestones.
When did Rob propose to Amber?
Rob proposed during the live All-Stars finale in May 2004, after Amber won the jury vote 4–3. The proposal came after the competition, not during the island filming. Rob later said they had dated for about six months before he asked her, and that he wanted to propose before the winner was announced because neither knew which of them would win. In a May 30, 2026 interview with Swooon, he recalled, “It was epic,” describing the audience and venue.
The televised sequence can make the relationship seem to move instantly from alliance to engagement. Rob said the elapsed time was longer than the edit suggested: “In TV time, it was really quick, but in actual time, it was, like, a year and a half.” They married nearly a year after the live finale.

When did Boston Rob and Amber get married?
The couple married in the Bahamas on April 16, 2005. CBS later aired a wedding special. Their relationship moved from a reality-show partnership into family life: they have four daughters, born between 2009 and 2014, according to Us Weekly’s timeline.
In April 2025, they marked their twentieth wedding anniversary. Rob’s caption, reproduced by Us Weekly, called them “2 kids that met on an Island!” and wished Amber a happy anniversary.

Did they compete on Survivor together again?
Yes. Rob and Amber returned as a married couple for Survivor: Winners at War in 2020. Amber described the strategic complication of playing alongside her husband: “Fortunately and unfortunately, I have my husband out here so our target is kind of doubled in size.” She also said he was someone she could trust. Her comments were made to CBS Pittsburgh on February 12, 2020, as the season began. CBS Pittsburgh’s interview covers their return and her perspective on the game.

Amber reflected on the outcome of All-Stars in the same 2020 interview: “I won the show and fell in love, and I’m happily married 15 years later with four beautiful children.” Rob has also spoken about his early impression of Amber. In a February 28, 2026 interview with Swooon, he said, “One of the first things I remember was I thought in my brain that she would be a really good mother because she’s so caring and so nurturing.” These are their own accounts of the relationship; the public timeline alone does not establish private motivations or that their romance was planned for television.
