Full spoilers for Attack on Titan. Ranked by overall combat threat, the Cart Titan is the weakest in a one-on-one fight and the Founding Titan is the most powerful when its full abilities are accessible. That is an editorial ranking, not an official canon chart: holder skill, preparation, terrain and special conditions can change the result, and strategic value is not the same as duel strength.
How this ranking defines “powerful”
This order weighs destructive scale, range, close-combat ability, defense, mobility, versatility, stamina limits and dependence on holder-specific traits. It considers overall combat threat, including exceptional abilities, rather than asking which Titan is most useful to an army or which would always win a clean duel. The Nine Titans have sharply different strengths, so the middle placements are especially open to debate. 9. Cart Titan
The Cart Titan is built for endurance and battlefield support, not overwhelming standalone force. Its ability to remain active for extended operations and carry equipment can make it strategically valuable, but those advantages matter less in a direct one-on-one fight than heavy offense or defense. That makes it the weakest here by the chosen standard, not the least useful Titan overall.
8. Beast Titan
The Beast Titan’s performance varies substantially with its holder. Zeke’s version is a formidable ranged threat: his throwing ability can devastate opponents from a distance, and his battlefield command adds to his danger. Those traits should not be assumed for every Beast Titan. At close range, a ranged-focused fighter may be more vulnerable, so preparation and distance can dramatically affect its standing.

7. Armored Titan
Its armor gives it protection and makes a charge dangerous, but it is not an unbreakable defense. Armor can be broken or bypassed, and the emphasis on protection comes with mobility trade-offs. Reiner’s personal resilience and decisions in battle are not the same thing as the Armored Titan’s defining ability.
6. Female Titan
The Female Titan is a capable all-rounder, combining physical combat with hardening and, in suitable circumstances, the ability to attract Pure Titans. That broad toolkit gives it flexibility without making it automatically superior in any one specialty. Its demonstrated abilities also do not establish that it can freely copy every other Titan’s power.
5. Attack Titan
The Attack Titan is a strong physical combatant, and its connection to the memories of future inheritors makes it unusual within the story. That connection is not simple, controllable combat precognition. Nor should Eren’s hardening or later combinations be attributed to the Attack Titan alone: those depend on other powers and circumstances.
4. Jaw Titan
Small size and speed make the Jaw Titan exceptionally mobile, while its claws and powerful jaws can damage hardened material. That gives it a credible way to threaten much larger opponents. Its size is also a liability: it has less defense than bulkier Titans, and a mistake against a stronger opponent can be costly.
3. Colossal Titan
The Colossal Titan’s enormous scale, heat and steam create extraordinary area threat. Its transformation can cause massive destruction, but that should not be treated as a repeatable, cost-free explosion. The Titan’s size and stamina demands also limit how it performs in a prolonged close fight.
2. War Hammer Titan
The War Hammer Titan can form hardened structures and weapons, giving it unusual reach and tactical flexibility. It can also operate at a distance from its crystallized body, making it harder to counter by simply attacking the Titan’s visible form. Its connection to that body through a cable and its stamina demands are exploitable constraints, but its range and versatility make it one of the strongest combatants.
1. Founding Titan
At full power, the Founding Titan has abilities that reach beyond ordinary combat, including command over Titans and effects on Subjects of Ymir. Those powers have important access conditions: royal blood and the story’s special contact circumstances matter. The Founder ranks first because this list counts its full canonical potential, not because every holder can routinely use that potential in a one-on-one fight.

The Founding Titan is strongest by overall power if its exceptional abilities are accessible. In a standard duel that excludes those powers, the answer changes: the Founder is no longer an automatic first, and the War Hammer, Colossal or another specialist may have the advantage depending on the fighters and setting. There is no single winner independent of conditions.
Why the middle of the ranking can change
The Cart, Beast, Armored, Female and Attack Titans do not form a settled power scale. A Zeke-style Beast Titan with distance and preparation can outrank several entries in a ranged battle; the Cart Titan’s endurance and equipment can be more valuable across a sustained operation than its duel placement suggests. Terrain, support, holder skill and access to special abilities all affect the matchup.
