Anthony Hopkins shared a message about healing and love as Los Angeles wildfires devastated the region. Contemporaneous news reports said his Pacific Palisades home was among the properties lost, but his message itself did not confirm that his house had burned.
What did Anthony Hopkins say?
Hopkins’s Instagram message, reproduced by The Independent on January 10, 2025, said: “As we all struggle to heal from the devastation of these fires, it’s important we remember that the only thing we take with us is the love we give.”
The message offered support amid the fires and reflected on recovery. It did not explicitly say that Hopkins’s own home had burned.
Was his Pacific Palisades home destroyed?
News outlets separately reported that Hopkins had lost his Pacific Palisades home. ABC News reported on January 10, 2025, citing video obtained by TMZ that showed the property reduced to rubble. ABC also noted that Hopkins had not confirmed the loss on social media at the time.

That distinction matters: the reported home loss and the Instagram message were separate pieces of information. The message should not be presented as Hopkins personally confirming the damage to his property.
The scale of destruction in the Palisades
The fire caused extensive damage across the neighborhood. ABC News reported in January 2025 that Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley said more than 5,300 structures had been damaged or destroyed in the Palisades fire. That was a contemporaneous estimate, not a final tally; ABC said the total could change as mapping and surveying continued.
