Andor season 2 is an ensemble story about the people and institutions shaping the Rebellion, with Cassian Andor at its center. The completed season spans four years before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, following familiar allies, Imperial pursuers and returning film characters as their paths converge. Here’s who plays the principal characters and where they fit, without major finale spoilers.
Who plays Cassian Andor in season 2?
Diego Luna returns as Cassian, now working with Luthen Rael’s covert Rebel network and carrying more responsibility than he did in season 1. Luna has described Cassian as still unsure whether he belongs to a cause larger than himself. This is an earlier stage of the character than the committed rebel audiences meet in Rogue One.
The season’s format matters: it opens a year after Maarva Andor’s funeral and moves through four three-episode arcs, each separated by a year. Rather than one continuous stretch of events, the story covers the four years leading into Rogue One. [Lucasfilm’s series page]
Which returning characters shape the growing Rebellion?
These characters are grouped by their connection to Cassian and the emerging Rebel cause. Their positions and circumstances evolve across the season’s yearly jumps.

Cassian’s allies and the Ferrix refugees

- Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Rael: The covert organizer who recruits Cassian and opens a path into the cause. He is a teacher and source of hope for Cassian, but secrecy and competing agendas make him more complicated than a straightforward mentor.
- Elizabeth Dulau as Kleya Marki: Luthen’s assistant and trusted operative, whose role becomes more prominent in the season.
- Joplin Sibtain as Brasso and Muhannad Bhaier as Wilmon Paak: Ferrix residents who leave the planet after its revolt. They are among the refugees whose lives are reshaped by the Imperial response.
- B2EMO: The familiar droid from Ferrix also appears in the season.
Rebel operatives and rival approaches
- Faye Marsay as Vel Sartha: A committed Rebel operative, Mon Mothma’s cousin and part of Luthen’s network. She is also closely connected to Cinta.
- Varada Sethu as Cinta Kaz: A Rebel operative and Vel’s partner, with a role in the network’s work.
- Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera: The radical leader of the Partisans returns, representing a distinct faction and approach to resistance.
Mon Mothma and the political cost of resistance
- Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma: The Chandrilan senator balances public political life and family obligations while supporting the nascent Rebellion. Her story traces the personal risks and costs behind her eventual emergence as a Rebel leader.
Who are the Imperial characters?
The Imperial story is not only a personal pursuit of Cassian; it shows the institutions trying to identify and suppress a growing network.
- Denise Gough as Dedra Meero: An ambitious Imperial Security Bureau officer pursuing Cassian and the Rebel network. Her authority comes from the ISB and its surveillance and enforcement machinery.
- Kyle Soller as Syril Karn: A former corporate security officer whose pursuit of Cassian pulls him toward the Imperial system. At the season’s outset, official coverage places him in a new position and setting.
- Ben Mendelsohn as Director Orson Krennic: The Rogue One character returns as a high-ranking Imperial overseeing the Death Star project in the years before the film.
Which season 2 characters return from Rogue One?
Cassian, Krennic, Saw Gerrera and K-2SO connect the series directly to the film. Alan Tudyk returns as K-2SO, the droid seen in Rogue One; official Star Wars Celebration coverage says the season shows how Cassian and the droid meet. Saw, played again by Forest Whitaker, brings the Partisans’ distinct politics into the story. Krennic’s presence places the Death Star project among the Imperial developments unfolding in the same period.
