An AI-generated fake interview falsely claimed that Brazilian singer Anitta would release a new song in English. The claim was untrue: Anitta publicly denied it, according to the OECD.AI AI Incidents Monitor, which lists the incident on 12 April 2023. The monitor says the fabricated interview spread on social media and caused confusion and reputational harm.

What Anitta said—and what is established
The OECD.AI entry summarizes that Anitta publicly denied the 2023 misinformation, but the available source does not provide a direct, attributable quotation from her. A phrase reported in connection with the story, “Usaram inteligência artificial” (“They used artificial intelligence”), should not be treated as a verified verbatim quotation from Anitta based on that summary alone.
For the separate 2022 video, Gshow quoted her adviser Paulo Pimenta in Portuguese: “Não se trata de Anitta, mas sim uma ação criminosa que utiliza de recursos digitais para enganar o público, fazendo uma inserção do rosto de uma pessoa em outra. Neste caso, muito mal feito, por sinal.” He said the video was not Anitta and characterized it as a criminal act using digital means to deceive viewers. The 2022 statement is about that video, not the 2023 song claim.

How to check a surprising announcement
- Look for the artist’s own post. Anitta’s website fan-center page says it lists profiles updated by her team: Anitta’s fan center. Use it as a route to official channels; it is not evidence about the details of the 2023 incident.
- Check reliable reporting. Look for coverage that identifies where a claim originated and whether the artist or representative has addressed it.
- Pause before sharing a clip or quote. A convincing interview or voice is not, by itself, proof that the statement is authentic.
The cited accounts do not establish who made the 2023 fake, whether a platform removed it, when any removal occurred, or whether legal proceedings followed. Claims about those details would go beyond what the published records support.
