In an interview with The U.S. Sun, as quoted by PerthNow and ABC, she said: “A part of me feels bad for turning these people’s lives upside down, but, play stupid games… win stupid prizes.” The headline phrase “stupid games get stupid prizes” is not her exact wording.
What happened at the Coldplay concert?
During Coldplay’s show at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, the venue’s crowd camera showed a couple embracing on the stadium screens. When they noticed themselves on the jumbotron, they turned away and ducked out of view. Frontman Chris Martin joked from the stage, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.” It was a quip, not confirmation of an affair.
The location matters: Gillette Stadium is in Foxborough, about 22 miles southwest of Boston, not in Boston proper, as The Guardian noted. The Associated Press identified the couple as Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and the company’s chief people officer, Kristin Cabot, and reported that Astronomer later confirmed their identities.
Who filmed the viral video?
Grace Springer was a fan in the audience who filmed and posted her own video to TikTok. Her recording was separate from the venue’s jumbotron footage: the concert crew operated the crowd camera that put the couple on the stadium screens. Springer said she did not know who the couple were when she posted her video.

Springer later told The U.S. Sun, in remarks reproduced by PerthNow and ABC, that the clip had reached millions of viewers. ABC reported more than 74 million TikTok views by Saturday afternoon in 2025; PerthNow reported Springer’s account of seven million views when she woke up and more than 30 million later. These are snapshots from different points in time, not current view totals.
What did Springer say about posting it?
Springer’s phrase, “play stupid games… win stupid prizes,” became a shorthand for the viral moment. She also told ABC, “I hope, for them, my video was a blessing in disguise.” Those are her reflections on the video’s impact; they do not establish what happened in the couple’s private lives.

How did Astronomer respond?
Astronomer said its board had opened a formal investigation. In a statement reproduced by ABC, the company said, “Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability,” and that “The board of directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter and we will have additional details to share very shortly.”
The company also warned that statements attributed to Byron online were false: “Andy Byron has not put out any statement, reports saying otherwise are all incorrect.” ABC reported that social media circulated impersonations, so purported apology posts should not be treated as authentic based on their appearance alone.

What happened to Byron after the video went viral?
The investigation announcement was followed by company leadership changes. The Associated Press reported that Byron was placed on leave and later resigned. Co-founder and chief product officer Pete DeJoy became interim CEO. These later developments are distinct from the initial moment on the stadium screen and the speculation that followed it online.
