The 2026 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is scheduled to arrive on November 7, with its lighting ceremony on December 2. Tree-specific visiting hours have not yet been announced, so use those dates as planning anchors and check Rockefeller Center’s official Christmas Tree page before you go.

When can you see the 2026 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree?

Rockefeller Center lists November 7 as the tree’s arrival date and December 2 as the lighting ceremony date. As of October 7, 2026, it says, “Check back for visiting hours and additional details.” The tree’s specific viewing schedule is therefore not yet confirmed.

The venue’s visitor FAQ says the plaza is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. That is a general statement about the plaza, not a published schedule for viewing the seasonal tree. Check the official tree page again close to your visit, especially if you need to plan around a particular time.

Is it free to see the tree?

The reviewed Rockefeller Center pages do not say that a ticket is required to view the plaza tree. Top of the Rock, the Rink, and the Holiday Chalets are separate experiences, and their ticketing should not be confused with access to the plaza tree. The venue has not announced a seasonal tree-area access restriction for 2026.

What is known about the tree?

Rockefeller Center traces the tradition to December 1931, when construction workers pooled their money to buy a 20-foot balsam fir. Their families made handmade garlands, and the workers raised the tree on Christmas Eve.

The venue has not announced the 2026 tree’s identity, age, dimensions, weight, or lighting details. Its official tree page reports the following figures for the 2025 tree; they are not specifications for the 2026 tree:

These are natural keepsake options; the venue’s listing does not establish availability through other retailers.

What happens to the tree afterward?

Rockefeller Center says the 2026 tree will be donated to Habitat for Humanity, then milled and treated into lumber for home building. The connection to The Carpenter’s Gift also reflects that reuse story, linking the holiday landmark to a later building project.
