Thirsty Merc was named as the special guest. The tour was billed as the band’s first Australian headline tour in more than 20 years; it is a historical announcement, not a current ticket alert.
Goo Goo Dolls Australia tour dates and venues
The itinerary announced by promoter TEG Van Egmond covered six cities. The dates below are the scheduled 2025 shows.
| City | Date | Venue |
|---|---|---|
| Canberra | Thursday 20 February 2025 | AIS Arena |
| Sydney | Friday 21 February 2025 | The Hordern Pavilion |
| Newcastle | Sunday 23 February 2025 | Newcastle Entertainment Centre |
| Brisbane | Tuesday 25 February 2025 | BCEC |
| Adelaide | Thursday 27 February 2025 | AEC Theatre |
| Melbourne | Sunday 2 March 2025 | Margaret Court Arena |
TEG Van Egmond’s announcement listed a Telstra Plus presale from 9 a.m. local time on 6 November until 9 a.m. on 8 November 2024, followed by general public ticket sales through Ticketek from 10 a.m. local time on 11 November 2024. Those sale windows have passed.
Was Perth included in the tour?
No Perth headline date appeared on the announced itinerary. The “more than 20 years” description referred to the gap between Australian headline tours, not to the band’s absence from Australia: PerthNow reported that the Goo Goo Dolls had appeared in Western Australia as support for Matchbox Twenty at RAC Arena in February 2024.

What the announcement said about the band
TEG Van Egmond’s 2024 release described the group, formed by John Rzeznik and Robby Takac in Buffalo, New York, in 1986, as having sold 15 million records worldwide, earned four GRAMMY Award nominations and achieved 16 number-one and Top 10 hits. Those are figures attributed to the promoter’s announcement.
The release said “Iris” spent 18 consecutive weeks at number one on the Hot 100 and described the song as eight-times platinum. Christo Van Egmond, Managing Director of TEG Van Egmond, said the band’s back catalogue would make the tour “the feel-good tour of the summer.”
