Amber Rose spoke on the opening night of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on July 15, 2024. She described changing her view of Donald Trump, criticized what she called pressure from “the left” to hate Trump and his supporters, and argued that families were better off under his presidency. Those claims were her political argument, not findings established by the speech transcript.
What did Amber Rose say at the RNC?
Rose’s remarks centered on a personal account of political change. She said she had once opposed Trump, while her father supported him. After questioning her father’s view and paying closer attention, she said, she came to support Trump herself. Roll Call’s transcript of the convention session records her opening line: “The left told me to hate Trump and even worse, to hate the other side, the people who support him.”
She went on to say she had concluded that Trump and his supporters did not care whether someone was Black, white, gay, or straight. Rose also presented concern for children as common ground among parents, regardless of party. In a transcript published by Rev, she said: “That’s something that unites all American parents, whether we’re Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives, or Liberals.”
Her broadest claim was that American families had been better off while Trump was president. PBS NewsHour’s video and description of the speech quotes Rose saying families were “safer, wealthier, and stronger.” The remarks document what she argued; they do not independently establish those claims about household wellbeing, safety, or economic conditions.

Why did Rose say she came to support Trump?
Rose framed her support as the result of reconsidering her earlier opposition, influenced in part by her father’s support for Trump. The Philadelphia Inquirer’s contemporaneous coverage of Rose’s convention appearance also reported that her father was the first person close to her who supported Trump.
Her argument joined that family story to claims about belonging and shared priorities. She presented Trump’s supporters as accepting people across racial and sexual-orientation lines, and motherhood as a reason parents across political identities could relate to one another. These were Rose’s stated reasons and interpretations in a campaign-convention address.

What did Rose mean by criticizing “the left”?
Rose said she had been told to hate Trump and, “even worse,” his supporters. The headline shorthand “slams liberals” captures the confrontational tone, but it can overstate the scope of her remarks: she referred to “the left,” not every liberal, and also invoked common ground among Republicans, Democrats, conservatives, and liberals as parents.

- What the record establishes: Rose delivered the speech on July 15, 2024, during the RNC’s opening night in Milwaukee. The event video and transcript record her statements.
- What the speech establishes about Rose’s position: She described a shift from opposing Trump to supporting him, criticized what she characterized as the left’s hostility toward him and his supporters, and made an appeal based on acceptance and family.
- What it does not establish: The transcript and video do not test whether families were safer, wealthier, or better off during Trump’s presidency. Those are claims in the speech, not independent statistics or findings in these records.
PBS’s recording provides the audiovisual context, while the Roll Call and Rev transcripts provide text renderings. A separate assessment of Rose’s economic or safety claims would require evidence beyond these speech records.
