Alexa PenaVega’s fourth pregnancy, announced in November 2023, brought rough nausea, earlier scares and a need to slow down amid a busy family life. In March 2024, she said she was hospitalized after bleeding in her third trimester and that clinicians had identified a partial placental separation. She and husband Carlos PenaVega later announced that their daughter, Indy Rex, was stillborn in April 2024.
When Alexa PenaVega announced her fourth pregnancy
On November 17, 2023, Alexa and Carlos PenaVega announced they were expecting their fourth child. Their joint Instagram post featured her growing baby bump and the caption, “Thank God we love adventures. Oh baby, here we come! Número cuatro!” Their three children at the time were Ocean, Kingston and Rio. E! News reported the announcement.
The announcement is a past event, not news of a current pregnancy. In an interview published November 29, Alexa spoke about how difficult the pregnancy had been so far. Us Weekly reported that she described her nausea as rough and said she had experienced “some scares earlier on.”

Having to slow down
Alexa said she was accustomed to a fast pace: “I’m a go, go, go person. We don’t stop, and it has really forced me to have to slow down.” She also described the demands of her schedule, caring for three children and living on a boat for half the year. Her November interview with Us Weekly framed those pressures as part of her personal circumstances.
Why Alexa said she was hospitalized in March 2024
In March 2024, Alexa shared that she had gone to the hospital after experiencing bleeding in her third trimester. In her pregnancy vlog, she explained: “I thought it was kind of weird to be bleeding in my third trimester, and obviously, you guys know my history with this pregnancy has not been easy. So, I decided to go get it checked out because I wanted to be on the safe side.”

She described being monitored and hoping to return home if her condition continued to stabilize. These details come from her account and the outlet’s reporting, not from published medical records.

In April 2024, Alexa and Carlos announced that their daughter, Indy Rex, was “born at rest”—the family’s wording for a stillbirth. In a May 16 follow-up, Alexa told Good Morning America, “Losing Indy was very hard, and then right after losing her my health declined a lot and nobody could figure out what was wrong.” The outlet also reported the family’s account of grief and faith, and quoted Alexa describing the loss as “the most traumatic thing we’ve ever had to go through as a family.”

The reporting does not establish that the partial placental separation caused Indy’s stillbirth. The two events should not be presented as a confirmed cause-and-effect relationship.
