Its reported cabin included two bedrooms, a bathroom and entertaining areas. Travolta donated the aircraft to Australia’s Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) in 2017; after being dismantled and shipped from the United States, it arrived at Port Kembla in May 2026 for a planned rebuild and public display. The sources cited here do not establish its purchase price or current value, so “multi-million-dollar” should not be read as a verified valuation.
What kind of plane did John Travolta own?
The aircraft at the center of the story was a Boeing 707-138, originally delivered to Qantas in 1964. Travolta said in his 2017 donation announcement that it was converted for private use after its airline service ended. It was therefore an airliner adapted as a personal aircraft, not a jet built from the outset as a private cabin.
Its ownership history included service with Qantas, an American airline and a syndicate that included Frank Sinatra, according to ABC News’ 2017 account. Travolta’s announcement confirms that he later owned the aircraft and donated it to HARS.
What was inside the 707?
ABC News reported in May 2026 that the private fit-out included two bedrooms, a bathroom and areas for entertaining. That description conveys the main difference between the aircraft’s airline origins and its later role: the cabin was arranged for private travel and hosting rather than standard passenger service.

The available reporting does not give a floor plan, cabin measurements or a room-by-room inventory, so details beyond those reported amenities cannot be established here.
How did the aircraft fit into Travolta’s home life?
A profile published on Travolta’s official website in 2013 described his home in Florida’s Jumbolair fly-in community, where a taxiway reached his door and he parked the 707. That is historical reporting, not a description of where the aircraft is now. The 707 was later donated, dismantled and shipped to Australia.

Does Travolta still own the Boeing 707?
No. Travolta announced its donation to HARS in 2017. The aircraft’s later transport and arrival in Australia confirm that it is no longer part of an active fleet at his Florida home. His 2017 announcement expressed hope that it would fly again, but the later preservation plan reported by ABC is to rebuild it for display; it should not be described as an aircraft currently intended to return to his service.
Where is the 707 now, and what happens next?
In May 2026, the disassembled aircraft arrived by ship at Port Kembla, Australia, bound for HARS at Shellharbour Airport. ABC News reported that it had taken 60 days to dismantle in Georgia and that the aircraft is 46.6 metres long, with a 44.4-metre wingspan. The Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry said the shipment was inspected for plant material contamination, cleaned or treated, and cleared for onward transport.

HARS planned to rebuild the components for preservation and public display. ABC reported the organisation’s estimate that rebuilding would take at least six months; that was an estimate, not a confirmed completion date. The latest reporting cited here does not establish whether the rebuild is complete, when the aircraft will open to visitors, or what visiting arrangements will be.
What other aircraft has Travolta reported owning?
In a 2025 Business Jet Traveler interview, Travolta described a Dassault Falcon 900B and also listed a Boeing 737-300 series aircraft in corporate configuration and an Eclipse jet. This is a dated account of what he reported owning, not independent verification of his current fleet. It is separate from the 707, whose donation to HARS is documented.
