Angelique Kerber announced the birth of her first child, daughter Liana, on February 28, 2023. Tennis.com reported that Liana was born on February 25. The announcement featured a family photo of their hands intertwined.
What Kerber shared
Kerber’s caption, as reproduced in Tennis.com’s February 28, 2023 report, read: “Having you with us is the most beautiful & overwhelming feeling we could have ever imagined,” followed by “Welcome to our family, Liana.” The outlet described the image as “featuring the trio’s hands intertwined.”
Tennis.com’s report covered the announcement and its photo; the account here relies on that contemporaneous reporting.
Kerber’s path back to tennis
Kerber had announced her pregnancy shortly before the 2022 US Open. She later returned to tennis after Liana’s birth. In 2023, Tennis.com described her as a former world No. 1 and reported that she had spent 34 weeks ranked at the top.

Kerber’s family since the announcement
The 2023 announcement was about Kerber’s first child at that time. Later WTA reporting says she welcomed a son, Ben, in 2025, and identifies Liana as her older daughter. The WTA’s 2025 profile also lists 14 career singles titles.
