PerthNow’s Taylor Renouf reported that Finlayson had written about sometimes being overwhelmed by the effects of her diagnosis. The report reproduced this passage from her post:
“For those wondering if I ever cry… yes I do. Not often and usually due to the collateral that comes with a terminal diagnosis. But yes, I am human, some days do get the best of me and I’m a prisoner to my own thoughts,” Mrs Finlayson said.

Kellie Finlayson is the wife of Port Adelaide player Jeremy Finlayson and an ambassador for the Jodi Lee Foundation, which works on bowel cancer awareness and early detection. The Foundation’s 2023–24 annual review says she was diagnosed with stage IV bowel cancer at age 25, three months after the birth of her daughter, Sophia. It also identifies her book as There Must Be More.
Cancer Council SA’s 2025 Research Symposium program describes her experience navigating stage-four colorectal cancer, identifies her as a Jodi Lee Foundation ambassador, and names her as co-host of the podcast Sh!t Talkers.

What was known about her cancer battle in 2024?
In its 10 September 2024 report, PerthNow said Finlayson had been diagnosed in 2021. The report said the disease was growing again by July 2024 and that doctors had recommended chemotherapy to slow its spread. Those details describe the situation reported at that time; they should not be read as an update on her condition today.

The dated post and the sources cited here do not independently confirm Finlayson’s current medical status. A later People feature published on 6 September 2026 offers secondary background on her cancer journey, but it does not establish her present condition.
