What counts as a guest star on Friends?
For a cast reference, “guest-starred” should mean a performer credited for a role in the scripted series. That includes one-off speaking parts and recurring supporting characters, but it does not automatically include uncredited cameos or people who appeared only as themselves. Those categories should be identified separately if a roster includes them.
The distinction matters because an actor’s presence in a cast database or fan category does not, by itself, establish which episode they appeared in, what character they played, or whether the appearance was credited. A reliable entry needs an episode-level credit check.
The six leads are not guest stars
The principal cast consists of Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green, Courteney Cox as Monica Geller, Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe Buffay, Matt LeBlanc as Joey Tribbiani, Matthew Perry as Chandler Bing, and David Schwimmer as Ross Geller. They anchor the series rather than belong in a guest-star index.

Why a complete guest-star list needs episode credits
IMDb can help identify possible cast members, but its cast information is marked as awaiting verification. It is a discovery index, not confirmation of every episode credit. A “who’s who” that claims to include everyone should verify each actor, character, and episode against the relevant credits, then label recurring roles, one-offs, cameos, and self-portrayals distinctly.

No attributable published total for Friends guest stars is established by the sources cited here. Counts drawn from an incomplete database or a broad fan category should not be presented as the series’ definitive total.
Keep Friends: The Reunion separate
Friends: The Reunion is an unscripted special with its own special-guest roster. Appearing in that special does not make someone a guest star in the original scripted series. Friends Central’s guest-star category combines people associated with both the series and the reunion, so category membership alone cannot verify an original-series appearance. Include a reunion participant in the series roster only if episode credits independently show that they appeared in the scripted show.

What this guide can—and cannot—identify
The cited material establishes the series’ scale, its six principal actors, and the need to separate reunion participants from original-series guest performers. It does not provide a verified episode-by-episode guest-cast roster or enough episode-level evidence to name individual guest performers responsibly. Without that verification, listing names as “everyone” would overstate what is established.
