The headline claim is unsupported by those official sources, though their current listings cannot rule out a project that has not been announced or listed.
Is a new John Wick movie coming out in May?
Lionsgate’s movie listing does not show a new John Wick film among its visible upcoming titles. The displayed upcoming slate on Lionsgate Publicity also omits one. Neither listing confirms a May release. Because studio schedules can change and an omission is not proof that no private or unannounced project exists, check Lionsgate’s current listings for updates.
Has the official trailer been released?
No new trailer for the alleged May movie appeared in the official franchise and trailer material reviewed. The franchise site’s available trailers for Ballerina and John Wick: Chapter 4 are for those existing films, not evidence of a trailer for a new May release.
What John Wick film did Lionsgate announce?
On May 15, 2024, Lionsgate said it was developing a feature centered on Caine, the character Donnie Yen played in Chapter 4, with Yen set to reprise the role. The announcement said production was planned to begin in Hong Kong the following year, but it gave no release date and announced no trailer. Lionsgate described John Wick as a “billion-dollar” franchise in that announcement; that characterization is franchise context, not confirmation of the May claim. Read Lionsgate’s announcement.

The official franchise site lists John Wick: Chapter 4 on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Choose a format supported by your playback equipment. The listing does not establish current price or stock, and this is an existing film—not the alleged new May release. See the official franchise site.
Game projects are still in development
Lionsgate Studios Corp.’s fiscal 2026 Form 10-K states: “A John Wick AAA video game and arcade cabinet are currently in development.” That filing describes projects in development, not games available to buy. Read the filing.
