Abbie Chatfield faced criticism after using a TikTok sound that included the line “I love abortions” in an outfit-check video, according to PerthNow’s report of 30 September 2025. The story described a social-media dispute, not a new abortion-policy announcement: commenters disagreed over the audio, and Chatfield replied with a video explaining her support for abortion access and discussing her own experience.
What prompted the reaction
Chatfield, an Australian influencer who became known through Channel 10’s The Bachelor, used the audio in a TikTok “fit check” posted over the preceding weekend, as reported by Tegwen Bescoby for PerthNow on 30 September 2025. The sound, created by a TikTok user named Archie, listed abortion alongside trans people, migrants, birth control, immigrants, gay people, fun and being a nice person. PerthNow said it had been used in more than 10,000 videos at the time of publication; that is the report’s 2025 figure, not a current platform count.
The wording drew criticism from some commenters. PerthNow quoted one calling the audio “revolting leftish rubbish” and reported accusations that Chatfield used inflammatory language to provoke people. The same article also recorded praise for her speaking about abortion and choice. Those examples illustrate competing responses; the report did not establish how common either view was.
How Chatfield responded
PerthNow reported that Chatfield posted a five-minute response video. She argued that abortion can save a pregnant person’s life when a pregnancy is not medically viable and said criminalizing abortion risks driving people toward unsafe procedures. She also framed abortion access as a matter of women’s freedom and autonomy. These are arguments she made in the video as reported by the outlet, not independent medical findings established by its account.

“Saying you love a life-saving medical procedure should not be controversial,” PerthNow quoted Chatfield as saying. The report also quoted her: “There’s no reason for that, that is why I love abortion. It gives women freedom, autonomy, it prevents the death of adults and also infants.”
Chatfield said in the response, according to PerthNow, that she had an abortion at age 23 because she did not want to raise a child on her own. She also argued that women face unequal expectations around responsibility and social shame.

What the coverage establishes—and what it does not
The immediate trigger was a sound used in an outfit-check video, followed by Chatfield’s response explaining her position and sharing a personal experience. PerthNow’s account captures a divided selection of comments, but gives no confirmed count of critical comments or representative polling. It therefore cannot show the scale of public opinion or support a claim that the reaction reflected all viewers, pro-choice people or the broader public.
The report also stated that Chatfield had 685,000 followers in 2025. That is a figure attached to the article’s publication period, not a current follower count, and neither it nor the sound-use total measures public opinion. PerthNow’s article is the available source for the response-video quotations; its reporting does not provide an independently inspected transcript. It reported no formal response from TikTok.
