Adam Scott says he and Rider Strong have addressed the awkward moment Scott recalled from his 1990s guest appearance on Boy Meets World. “I feel like we addressed it. I think it’s been squashed,” Scott said on Awardist, as reported by The Independent on August 5, 2025.
What Adam Scott remembers happening
Scott played Griff Hawkins, a bully, on Boy Meets World. He recalled approaching Strong after the season-two finale to congratulate him on finishing the season and give him a hug. According to Scott, Strong pushed him away, seemed not to recognize him and ran off.

That account is Scott’s recollection; Strong has not corroborated the details or explained what happened. The Independent places the encounter around 1994 or 1995, based on Scott’s own estimate of when it occurred.
How Rider Strong responded
Scott first brought up the story in 2023 on Strong’s podcast, Pod Meets World. Introducing it, he said, “I get to finally ask Rider about this thing – this has literally been tugging at me for 29 years.” Strong appeared surprised and replied, “Are you serious? Why would I do that?” He said he did not remember the interaction.

Scott said he was relieved to hear that Strong held no hard feelings. The exchange did not establish that Strong had deliberately rejected him: Strong’s reported response was that he could not recall the moment.
