A 2015 report linked backlash over a The View segment about a Miss America nurse contestant to five advertisers pulling ads: Johnson & Johnson, Eggland’s Best, Party City, Snuggle, and McCormick. That list and connection come from a contemporary Breitbart account; the available evidence here does not independently confirm each company’s reason or withdrawal date.
What happened on The View?
In September 2015, co-hosts Michelle Collins and Joy Behar drew criticism after a segment about a nurse who had competed in the Miss America contest. A contemporary report described the comments as ridicule of the contestant and said they prompted social-media backlash. The account does not include an independent transcript of the segment.

Breitbart reported that the hosts apologized on air on the Wednesday after the backlash began. The article described the apology and advertiser developments in the same account, but it did not establish a complete timeline for when each company stopped advertising.
Which five advertisers were named?
Breitbart’s September 19, 2015 report named these five companies in connection with the backlash:
#1 Best Overall
- Johnson & Johnson
- Eggland’s Best
- Party City
- Snuggle
- McCormick
The figure of five is the report’s count. The evidence available here does not include direct statements from all five companies confirming their decisions, the specific reasons for them, or whether they ended advertising on The View alone or more broadly with ABC.
What was said about the apology?
The report also quoted guest co-host Nicole Arbour describing an alleged backstage conversation after the apology. Arbour said: “Backstage, I heard the girls being like, ‘Oh yeah, our nurse jokes didn’t go over well so we have to apologize because they’re tweeting us too much.’” This is Arbour’s account of what she said she heard; the source material reviewed does not independently corroborate it.

How firmly is the advertiser connection established?
The careful description is that Breitbart reported that five advertisers pulled ads following the controversy. That report connects the withdrawals to the backlash, but the evidence presented here does not verify each company’s motive or timing. It also does not establish a financial loss, a permanent end to sponsorship, or the show’s overall advertising position.
A later story with a similar “five advertisers” framing concerned Tucker Carlson’s Fox News program in 2020, not The View’s 2015 nurse segment. The two incidents involve different programs and companies and should not be conflated.
